Málaga Airport to the Costa Tropical: La Herradura, Almuñécar, Salobreña, Motril
Private transfers from Málaga Airport to the Costa Tropical: La Herradura, Almuñécar, Salobreña and Motril. Fixed prices per vehicle, flight tracking, pay the driver on arrival.
Past Nerja the province changes and so does the coast. The Costa Tropical belongs to Granada: steeper mountains, bays instead of long beaches, and a climate mild enough for the custard apples and mangoes that give it its name. La Herradura, Almuñécar, Salobreña and Motril follow one another along the A-7 in that order, between sixty-five and eighty minutes from Málaga Airport.
It is a coast for people who want the sea without the crowds, and for divers, walkers and anyone using Motril as the door to the Alpujarra and Granada. The four route pages below give the exact price, the time and the arrival details for each town.

La Herradura

Almuñécar

Salobreña

Motril
Four places, four reasons
La Herradura is a horseshoe bay with dive schools and a small front. Almuñécar is the town: a castle, a botanical garden of the Phoenicians, a long promenade and the most restaurants. Salobreña is the photograph, a white village on a rock above sugar-cane fields with the beach below. Motril is the working city and the port, with hotels on Playa Granada and the junction for the A-44 north. Prices rise gently along the line, from €109 to €129 for a sedan.
When the road is slow and when it is not
The A-7 to the Costa Tropical is a motorway of viaducts and tunnels above the cliffs, quick in every season. The only slow points are the exits into Almuñécar on summer evenings and the last kilometres to Playa Granada on August weekends. Most of the year the times on this page are exact, and at night the driver often beats them.
Beyond the coast: the Alpujarra and Granada
From Motril the A-44 climbs north through the gorge of the Guadalfeo to Lanjarón and the Alpujarra, and on to Granada in under an hour. If your holiday combines the coast with the mountains, book the transfer to your first stop and ask us to quote the second; the same driver can do both on different days. The Sierra Nevada is visible from the beach at Salobreña on a clear winter morning, snow and sea in the same view.

Frequently asked questions
Where exactly will I find the driver at Málaga Airport?
Inside the arrivals hall of Terminal 3, standing with a board that shows your name. Every arriving flight, Terminal 2 ones included, walks out through that same hall, so there is only one place to look.
My flight is running late. Do I need to call?
No. We watch the flight number you gave us and the driver moves to the real landing time. There is no charge for the delay and the first sixty minutes of waiting at the airport are free.
Is a deposit or card needed to reserve?
Neither. You reserve with your name and contact details only, and you pay the driver at the end of the journey, in cash or by card in the vehicle.
What if my plans change?
Change the time or the address, or cancel altogether, at no cost up to 24 hours before the pickup. The link is in your confirmation email; for anything later, write to us and we do what we can.
Do you provide seats for children?
Yes, without charge: a baby seat for the first year, a child seat up to about four and a booster after that. Tick the number you need in the booking form and they are fitted before the car leaves for the airport.
How much notice do the long routes need?
Two days for anything beyond 150 kilometres: Seville, Córdoba, Jaén, Úbeda, Almería, Roquetas, Mojácar, Sierra Nevada, Lanjarón and Guadix. The car and the driver are set aside for most of a day. Nearer destinations are usually confirmed the same day.
