Taxi Málaga Airport → Playacálida Spa Hotel
Playacálida Spa Hotel is a large resort hotel on Velilla beach, on the eastern side of Almuñécar on the Costa Tropical. It is built on the slope above the sand, with terraced pools, gardens and a spa, and works well for families who want the beach without needing a car every day. Almuñécar's old town is a few minutes away.
Prices by vehicle

Single journey, VAT included, on toll-free roads; the AP-46 tunnel at Las Pedrizas is optional and settled separately if you want it. A return is exactly twice this figure. Starting at the train station or the cruise port changes nothing in the price.
Drop-off
From the airport it is the A-7 all the way east, leaving at the Almuñécar exit and coming down through Velilla to the hotel's own driveway. The car pulls up under the porch at reception, out of the sun, and the driver hands your luggage over there. No steps and no narrow streets.
Seventy minutes east along the Costa Tropical
Almuñécar is 88 km from Málaga Airport, about 70 minutes in normal traffic, and the whole run is on the A-7 with no toll anywhere. After Nerja the motorway climbs behind the Maro cliffs, crosses the provincial boundary into Granada and passes above La Herradura, where the sea reappears in the bay. The driver leaves at the Almuñécar exit, drops towards the town and turns east through the Velilla district to the hotel driveway. The Playacálida is on the hillside above Velilla beach, so the last minute is a short climb with the sea behind you.
Arriving as a family
Playacálida is a resort hotel, and most of our passengers to it are families: two adults, two or three children, a pushchair and the cases that go with them. We fit free child seats on request, from baby seats to boosters, and the estate car takes five bags for up to four people. The car stops under the reception canopy, so you are out of the sun immediately. If you land in the evening, the coast road is quiet and the 70 minutes are comfortable for children; on hot afternoons the air-conditioned car is the easy part of the day.

Frequently asked questions
How much is a taxi from Málaga Airport to Playacálida Spa Hotel?
The fixed fare to Playacálida Spa Hotel is €115 for a sedan carrying up to four people, €138 for the estate with the large boot and €173 for the minivan for five to eight. Bags, waiting time and VAT are included and the motorway carries no toll.
How long is the drive from Málaga Airport to Playacálida Spa Hotel?
Around 70 minutes for the 88 km, on dual carriageway for almost all of it. Summer Sundays, snow on the mountain roads and city festivals can stretch that; the driver allows for them when he sets your pickup.
Which side of Almuñécar should I book, San Cristóbal or Velilla?
San Cristóbal is the town beach, next to the old quarter, the Peñón del Santo and most restaurants, so you can walk everywhere. Velilla is the longer beach east of the centre, quieter, with apartment blocks and a promenade of its own. Either way the transfer price is the same; just give us the exact address.
How long is the transfer from Málaga Airport to Playacálida?
About 70 minutes for 88 km, almost all on the A-7. The fixed price is €115 for a sedan, €138 for an estate and €173 for a minivan, one way, and the same again for the return. Traffic is rarely a problem on this stretch except on August weekends.
Do we need to book well in advance for Almuñécar?
No. The 48-hour notice applies to routes over 150 km, and Almuñécar is under that. A booking made the day before is normally confirmed by email within the hour. In peak summer weeks it still helps to book a few days ahead so we can hold the vehicle size you need.
Where exactly will I find the driver at Málaga Airport?
Inside the arrivals hall of Terminal 3, standing with a board that shows your name. Every arriving flight, Terminal 2 ones included, walks out through that same hall, so there is only one place to look.
