Nerja, Burriana, Capistrano and the Balcón de Europa

Taxi Málaga Airport → Parador de Nerja

The Parador de Nerja sits on the cliff edge above Burriana beach, on the eastern side of town, with lawns and a pool that run right up to the drop. It belongs to the state Parador network and has its own lift down to the sand, so you are on the beach in a minute yet sleep well away from the busy centre.

Drop-off

Your driver leaves the A-7 at the Nerja exit, crosses town and follows Calle Almuñécar to the Parador's own entrance, where the car pulls up in front of reception. No pedestrian streets and no carrying bags uphill: the luggage goes straight from the boot to the door.

The drive from Málaga Airport to Burriana

Leaving the airport the driver joins the MA-20 round the south of Málaga, goes through the Cantal tunnels at Rincón de la Victoria and then simply stays on the A-7 eastwards for the rest of the way. Torre del Mar, Torrox and the sugar-cane valley of Nerja slip past on the right. Allow around 55 minutes for the 70 km on a normal day; on a Saturday in August the last few kilometres into Nerja can add a little. At the Nerja exit the car comes down to the roundabout by the old N-340, crosses to the east side of town and follows Calle Almuñécar out towards the Parador's gates.

Where the car stops and what is around you

The Parador has its own driveway and a forecourt in front of reception, so this is one of the simplest hotel arrivals on the whole coast: the car stops, the boot opens and the driver takes the cases to the desk. Burriana beach is directly below the cliff, reached by the hotel lift or by the road that curves down past the beach bars. The old centre and the Balcón de Europa are about fifteen minutes on foot along the top of the cliffs, and the Nerja Caves are a five-minute drive back up the road towards Maro.

Frequently asked questions

How much is a taxi from Málaga Airport to Parador de Nerja?

The fixed fare to Parador de Nerja is €95 for a sedan carrying up to four people, €114 for the estate with the large boot and €143 for the minivan for five to eight. Bags, waiting time and VAT are included and the motorway carries no toll.

How long is the drive from Málaga Airport to Parador de Nerja?

Around 55 minutes for the 70 km, on dual carriageway for almost all of it. Summer Sundays, snow on the mountain roads and city festivals can stretch that; the driver allows for them when he sets your pickup.

Does the driver take the motorway all the way, or the coast road through Torrox?

The A-7 all the way to Nerja, which is faster and smoother than the old N-340 hugging the shore. The motorway runs above the towns, so you only glimpse the sea until the descent into Nerja itself. The coast road is prettier but slower, especially crawling through Torrox Costa on a summer evening.

Can the driver take us down to Burriana beach instead of the hotel?

Yes, if you say so when booking or on the day. The road down to Burriana is open to traffic and ends by the beach, a couple of minutes from the Parador. Most guests, though, prefer to check in first and use the hotel lift to the sand.

Is the Parador a good base for a night arrival?

One of the best in Nerja. The drive is motorway almost to the door, there is no pedestrian zone to cross, and the forecourt is lit and quiet at night. Flight tracking works the same at any hour, so a late landing changes nothing on our side.

Where exactly will I find the driver at Málaga Airport?

Inside the arrivals hall of Terminal 3, standing with a board that shows your name. Every arriving flight, Terminal 2 ones included, walks out through that same hall, so there is only one place to look.
