Drop-off

Granada's centre is a restricted traffic zone, but hotel drop-offs are still possible. Your driver comes off the ring road, works through the regulated streets to Solarillo de Gracia and stops outside the palace gates. It is a short stop on a city street, so the driver unloads quickly and you are inside in a moment.

Into the regulated centre of Granada

Granada limits traffic in its centre, and Solarillo de Gracia is inside that area. It does not stop a hotel drop-off: the driver comes off the ring road, follows the Camino de Ronda and turns into the centre by the permitted route, stops outside the palace and unloads. The rest of the journey is the standard 135 km from Málaga, around 90 minutes on the free A-45 and A-92, with the ring road at the end. In the evening rush the last ten minutes across the city are the slowest part of the whole trip.

A central base without a car

Staying at Palacio de los Patos means you will not want a car in Granada: the cathedral and the Alcaicería are a short walk, Puerta Real is round the corner and the Alhambra minibuses leave from the centre. That is exactly why a door-to-door transfer from the airport makes sense here: the car is only needed for the 135 km in and out. When you leave, the driver collects you at the same spot on Solarillo de Gracia, so wait in the lobby with your bags ready and he will come in to find you.

Frequently asked questions

How much is a taxi from Málaga Airport to Hospes Palacio de los Patos?

The fixed fare to Hospes Palacio de los Patos is €199 for a sedan carrying up to four people, €239 for the estate with the large boot and €299 for the minivan for five to eight. Bags, waiting time and VAT are included and the motorway carries no toll.

How long is the drive from Málaga Airport to Hospes Palacio de los Patos?

Around 90 minutes for the 135 km, on dual carriageway for almost all of it. Summer Sundays, snow on the mountain roads and city festivals can stretch that; the driver allows for them when he sets your pickup.

Can you take me straight to the Alhambra for a timed ticket?

Yes. Alhambra tickets carry an entry time, so tell us the slot when you book and we plan the departure with margin. The driver goes round the ring road to the Alhambra car park by the ticket office, or up the Cuesta de Gomérez if you are staying at the Parador or the Alhambra Palace, which have their own access.

Can a private car enter the centre to reach the hotel?

Yes. The centre is regulated, not closed: drivers dropping guests at hotels are allowed in by the permitted route. Your driver comes in, stops at the door on Solarillo de Gracia and leaves the same way. The stop is short, so have everything ready to unload.

How early should we leave for a Málaga flight?

Count the 90-minute drive, add a margin for the ring road and then the two hours the airlines ask for at the terminal, two and a half for non-Schengen flights or in high summer. For a midday flight that means leaving the hotel at about eight in the morning.

Where exactly will I find the driver at Málaga Airport?

Inside the arrivals hall of Terminal 3, standing with a board that shows your name. Every arriving flight, Terminal 2 ones included, walks out through that same hall, so there is only one place to look.
