Taxi Málaga Airport → Almería
Almería is 205 km east of Málaga Airport, about two hours and a quarter on the A-7 the entire way. The motorway hugs the coast past Nerja and Motril, then cuts inland through the tunnels and dry ravines beyond Adra before opening onto the greenhouse fields of the Poniente and the bay of Almería. No tolls at any point. It is a long run, so we ask you to book 48 hours in advance.
Prices by vehicle
| Vehicle | Total price (VAT included) |
|---|---|
| Sedan 1-4 passengers, 3 suitcases. | €279 |
| Estate 1-4 passengers, 5 suitcases, skis or golf bags. | €335 |
| Minivan 5-8 passengers, 8 suitcases. | €419 |
Single journey, VAT included, on toll-free roads; the AP-46 tunnel at Las Pedrizas is optional and settled separately if you want it. A return is exactly twice this figure. Starting at the train station or the cruise port changes nothing in the price.
Drop-off
Almería's centre is easy for a car: the Paseo de Almería, the seafront and the hotels around the port all have direct access, and the driver unloads at the door. The lanes below the Alcazaba, in the old fishermen's quarter of La Chanca and around the cathedral, are tighter and partly one-way, so there the car stops at the closest open street. If you are heading on to a Cabo de Gata village, ask us for a quote to that destination instead.

What awaits you
- The Alcazaba above the old town
- Cabo de Gata beaches within reach
- Cable Inglés pier and the seafront
The whole coast on the A-7: 205 kilometres of sea, tunnels and greenhouses
Almería is the far end of the Mediterranean motorway from Málaga. The driver follows the A-7 east through Nerja, the viaducts and tunnels of the Granada coast, past Motril and Adra and finally across the plain of plastic greenhouses that feeds half of Europe, before the city and its Alcazaba come into view under the Sierra de Gádor. It is dual carriageway from start to finish with no tolls, and takes about 130 minutes. The fixed price for a sedan is €279, with luggage, waiting time and VAT included.
Where we drop you in Almería
The city is flat and easy to drive. The centre around the Paseo de Almería and the cathedral has ordinary streets with kerbside stops; the old quarter of La Chanca and the streets climbing to the Alcazaba are narrower, and the driver goes as far as the car reasonably fits. The port, the train and bus station and the beach hotels along the Paseo Marítimo are all a few minutes from one another. If you are staying at a resort in Aguadulce or Roquetas de Mar, west of the city, see the Roquetas route: it is closer and slightly cheaper.
Cabo de Gata, the Alcazaba and the desert
Almería is the gateway to the Cabo de Gata natural park, forty minutes east, with its volcanic coves and the villages of San José and Las Negras. The Alcazaba above the city is the largest Moorish fortress in Spain after the Alhambra, and inland the Tabernas desert has stood in for the American West in a hundred films. Many of our passengers use the airport transfer as the first leg of a week in the park; if your final address is in San José or Las Negras we quote the extra kilometres at booking rather than at the kerb.
Booking a long coastal transfer
Please book 48 hours ahead so a car and a driver are held for the day. Up to four people and three cases fit in the sedan; the estate at €335 suits families and surfers with boards, and the minivan at €419 carries up to eight. The A-7 is the same road in both directions, so the return from Almería to Málaga Airport is booked as a return trip at exactly double the one-way price, and the driver follows your flight on the day.

Local tips for your arrival
- If your address is in the Cabo de Gata park, send it with the booking so the extra distance is in the confirmed price.
- Taking the ferry to Melilla? Give us the sailing time and we plan the pickup to reach the port with an hour to spare.
- Ask for a stop at Motril or Adra on the way; two hours on the A-7 is long without one.
- Book 48 hours ahead; this is one of the routes on which we hold a car for the whole day.
Back to Málaga from Almería
For the return we collect you at your hotel, at the port if you arrive by ferry or anywhere in the Cabo de Gata park by prior arrangement. Almería to Málaga Airport is 130 minutes on the A-7; add two hours in the terminal, two and a half in summer or for flights outside Schengen, so for a three o'clock flight leave the city at about half past ten. The driver takes the same coastal motorway back and can stop for a break at your request.
From the train station or the cruise port
The fixed price to Almería is the same from Málaga-María Zambrano train station and from the cruise port. Choose your origin in the form; the driver meets you at the platform exit or outside the cruise terminal.

Frequently asked questions
How much is a taxi from Málaga Airport to Almería?
The fixed fare to Almería is €279 for a sedan carrying up to four people, €335 for the estate with the large boot and €419 for the minivan for five to eight. Bags, waiting time and VAT are included and the motorway carries no toll.
How long is the drive from Málaga Airport to Almería?
Around 130 minutes for the 205 km, on dual carriageway for almost all of it. Summer Sundays, snow on the mountain roads and city festivals can stretch that; the driver allows for them when he sets your pickup.
Can the transfer continue to Cabo de Gata or San José instead of Almería city?
Yes. Cabo de Gata village, San José and the beaches of the natural park are around 40 km further east on the AL-3115 and local roads, and they are quoted separately from the Almería price. Write the village name in the booking form and we reply with the exact fixed price for your vehicle.
Why go from Málaga Airport to Almería by car when Almería has its own airport?
Because many routes and fares into Málaga are better, and the drive is direct and predictable: 130 minutes on the A-7 with your driver waiting in arrivals. If your final stop is Cabo de Gata or Roquetas, the car takes you to the door rather than to another terminal.
Are there tolls on the A-7 to Almería?
No. The Mediterranean motorway is free from Málaga to Almería, including the tunnels and viaducts of the Granada coast. The fixed price is the full cost of the journey.
Can the driver stop at Nerja or Almuñécar on the way?
A short rest stop, yes, at no charge. A longer stop to visit a town is arranged when you book and the waiting time is quoted separately, so you know the total before you travel.
Where exactly will I find the driver at Málaga Airport?
Inside the arrivals hall of Terminal 3, standing with a board that shows your name. Every arriving flight, Terminal 2 ones included, walks out through that same hall, so there is only one place to look.
How much notice do the long routes need?
Two days for anything beyond 150 kilometres: Seville, Córdoba, Jaén, Úbeda, Almería, Roquetas, Mojácar, Sierra Nevada, Lanjarón and Guadix. The car and the driver are set aside for most of a day. Nearer destinations are usually confirmed the same day.
