Taxi Málaga Airport → Jaén
Jaén sits 210 km from Málaga Airport, a run of around two hours and a quarter. We take the A-45 to Antequera, the A-92 towards Granada and then the A-44 north, past the city ring road and through the sea of olive trees that covers the whole province. The final stretch drops into Jaén beneath the castle of Santa Catalina. It is over 150 km, so please book at least 48 hours ahead.

Drop-off
Jaén is a compact city built on a slope, and the old quarter below the cathedral has steep, narrow streets. If your hotel is up there, the driver goes as far as the lane allows and carries the cases the last few metres. The Paseo de la Estación hotels, the university area and the parador on the castle hill all have easy access, though the winding road up to the parador adds a few minutes.

What awaits you
- Santa Catalina castle and its parador
- The Renaissance cathedral by Vandelvira
- Arab baths under the Villardompardo palace
North through Granada: the A-44 and the sea of olives
Jaén sits two hours and ten minutes from Málaga Airport. The driver takes the A-45 and A-92 to the Granada ring road, then turns north on the A-44 through the Puerto de Arenas and into the province that grows more olive oil than anywhere on earth. The landscape from Campillo de Arenas onwards is rows of trees to every horizon, and the city appears below the hill of Santa Catalina with its castle on top. No section of the route has a toll, and the fixed price of €279 includes luggage, waiting and VAT.
A city on a slope: where the car stops
Jaén climbs from the flat modern districts near the station up to the cathedral and the old quarter under the castle. The lower city is straightforward: the Paseo de la Estación, the Gran Eje and the hotels around the Corte Inglés are wide streets with room to stop outside the door. The old town around the cathedral and the Arab baths has narrow one-way streets; the driver goes as far as the car fits and, if your accommodation is in a pedestrian lane, stops within a minute's walk. The Parador is inside the castle itself, at the top of a winding road with parking at the gate.
Why people go: castle, cathedral and the road to the Renaissance towns
Most visitors come for the castle of Santa Catalina and its views, the Renaissance cathedral by Vandelvira and the Arab baths under the Villardompardo palace, the largest preserved in Spain. Jaén is also the natural stop before Úbeda and Baeza, an hour further by the A-316; if you plan to see all three we can quote the onward leg or a separate day with the same driver. Business travellers use the route for the university and the province's oil cooperatives, and the fixed price makes it easy to expense.
Timing, luggage and the 48-hour rule
As with all routes over 150 kilometres we ask for two days' notice, so a car and a driver are reserved for your journey. Up to four passengers and three suitcases travel in the sedan; the estate at €335 takes five cases, and the minivan at €419 carries up to eight people. The driver watches your flight and the pickup moves with a delay at no charge, with the first hour of waiting at the airport free.

Local tips for your arrival
- If you are staying at the Parador, say so: the driver takes the castle road directly instead of entering the old town.
- Combine Jaén with Úbeda and Baeza on a second day rather than the same afternoon; the towns deserve the time.
- Book 48 hours ahead and give us the flight number so a delay simply moves the pickup.
- In winter the Puerto de Arenas can be foggy in the early morning; the driver allows for it on the way back.
Back to Málaga from Jaén
For the way back we collect you at your hotel, at the Parador gate or at the station if you have come from elsewhere by train. Jaén to Málaga Airport is 130 minutes; add two hours in the terminal, two and a half in summer or for a flight outside Schengen, so for a two o'clock departure the car leaves at about half past nine. Early-morning fog on the Puerto de Arenas in winter is the only thing that adds time, and the driver builds it in.
From the train station or the cruise port
The fixed price to Jaén is the same from Málaga-María Zambrano train station and from the cruise port. Choose your origin in the form; the driver meets you at the platform exit or outside the cruise terminal.

Frequently asked questions
How much is a taxi from Málaga Airport to Jaén?
The fixed fare to Jaén is €279 for a sedan carrying up to four people, €335 for the estate with the large boot and €419 for the minivan for five to eight. Bags, waiting time and VAT are included and the motorway carries no toll.
How long is the drive from Málaga Airport to Jaén?
Around 130 minutes for the 210 km, on dual carriageway for almost all of it. Summer Sundays, snow on the mountain roads and city festivals can stretch that; the driver allows for them when he sets your pickup.
Do you drop off at Jaén train station or the bus station?
Yes, both. The train station is at the end of the Paseo de la Estación and the bus station is close to the centre; either one costs the same fixed price as a hotel. Tell us your onward departure time and we build in a margin, as the A-44 near Granada can be slow behind lorries.
Is there a shorter road to Jaén than through Granada?
Not a practical one. The A-45 through Antequera and the A-92 to Granada, then the A-44 north, is dual carriageway all the way and takes about 130 minutes. The mountain roads through the Subbética look shorter on the map but are slower and narrower; we use them only if you ask for the scenery.
Can the transfer go on to Úbeda or Baeza after Jaén?
Yes. Úbeda and Baeza have their own fixed price from the airport, and if you want a stop in Jaén on the way, or a second day trip from your hotel, we quote it separately with the same driver. Tell us the plan when you book.
Will the driver help with luggage in the old town?
Yes. Where the car cannot reach the door, the driver walks the last stretch with your bags to the entrance. The lanes around the cathedral are short, so it is a minute or two on foot at most.
Where exactly will I find the driver at Málaga Airport?
Inside the arrivals hall of Terminal 3, standing with a board that shows your name. Every arriving flight, Terminal 2 ones included, walks out through that same hall, so there is only one place to look.
How much notice do the long routes need?
Two days for anything beyond 150 kilometres: Seville, Córdoba, Jaén, Úbeda, Almería, Roquetas, Mojácar, Sierra Nevada, Lanjarón and Guadix. The car and the driver are set aside for most of a day. Nearer destinations are usually confirmed the same day.
