Córdoba: the Judería, the Mezquita quarter and the AVE station

Taxi Málaga Airport → Hospes Palacio del Bailío

Hospes Palacio del Bailío is a sixteenth-century palace in Córdoba's old town, on Calle Ramírez de las Casas Deza, with courtyards, a garden and Roman remains visible under a glass floor. It lies on the northern edge of the historic centre, near Plaza de Colón, so the Mezquita is a walk through the old streets rather than next door.

Drop-off

The A-45 through Antequera and Lucena brings you into Córdoba from the south. The old town has restricted access and narrow streets, but the driver can reach the hotel door on Ramírez de las Casas Deza, or the nearest corner if a delivery van is blocking the lane, and walks the bags in with you.

Córdoba by the A-45 through Antequera and Lucena

Córdoba is 160 km from Málaga Airport and takes about 105 minutes. The A-45 does the whole job: up through the Las Pedrizas pass, past Antequera, then north across the olive country around Lucena and Montilla and down into the Guadalquivir valley. There is no toll on the way unless you ask for the AP-46 tunnel. As with Seville and the other long routes, we ask for 48 hours' notice. The driver enters Córdoba from the south, crosses the river and works round the edge of the old town towards Plaza de Colón, the nearest open space to the hotel.

Narrow streets around the palace

Ramírez de las Casas Deza is a typical old-town street, narrow and one-way, with access restrictions for non-residents. Hotel drop-offs are allowed, and the driver takes the car to the palace door whenever the street is clear. When a delivery or roadworks block it, he stops at the nearest point, usually within a minute's walk, and carries the bags with you. At night the streets are quiet and the approach is easy. For the return, the car waits at the same spot; leaving Córdoba takes a few minutes longer in the morning rush.

Around the hotel

Cristo de los FarolesThe famous little square with its wrought-iron lanterns, in the lanes beside the palace

Palacio de VianaThe house of the twelve courtyards, very close to the hotel

Frequently asked questions

How much is a taxi from Málaga Airport to Hospes Palacio del Bailío?

The fixed fare to Hospes Palacio del Bailío is €239 for a sedan carrying up to four people, €287 for the estate with the large boot and €359 for the minivan for five to eight. Bags, waiting time and VAT are included and the motorway carries no toll.

How long is the drive from Málaga Airport to Hospes Palacio del Bailío?

Around 105 minutes for the 160 km, on dual carriageway for almost all of it. Summer Sundays, snow on the mountain roads and city festivals can stretch that; the driver allows for them when he sets your pickup.

Is it worth booking a transfer to Córdoba during the Patios festival in May?

Yes, but plan the drop-off. During the first half of May the streets of the Alcázar Viejo, San Basilio and Santa Marina fill with visitors and some close to traffic in the afternoon. Give us your hotel name and we agree the closest unloading point with the driver. The fixed price does not change for the festival.

Can the car reach the door in the old town?

Usually yes. The street is restricted but hotel access is allowed, and our drivers know the way in. If it is blocked by a delivery, the driver stops as close as possible and walks the luggage the last metres with you. The approach can vary during the Patios festival in May, when the area is full of visitors.

Would the train be easier than a transfer to Córdoba?

There is a high-speed train from Málaga-María Zambrano to Córdoba, and if you are already at the station it can be a good option; check times with the operator. From the airport, though, a transfer takes you from the arrivals hall to the hotel door without changes, in about 105 minutes.

Where exactly will I find the driver at Málaga Airport?

Inside the arrivals hall of Terminal 3, standing with a board that shows your name. Every arriving flight, Terminal 2 ones included, walks out through that same hall, so there is only one place to look.

How much notice do the long routes need?

Two days for anything beyond 150 kilometres: Seville, Córdoba, Jaén, Úbeda, Almería, Roquetas, Mojácar, Sierra Nevada, Lanjarón and Guadix. The car and the driver are set aside for most of a day. Nearer destinations are usually confirmed the same day.
